Why Greenpoint Pilates Studio feels a little different (in the best way possible.)

Friends - Not all Pilates studios are created equal…

And let’s be honest: There are lots of Pilates studios out there.

Some studios feel created simply for Instagram, others full of mirrors and moody lighting that feel like punishment.

Our studio? We’re different.

Bright and airy inside, it’s designed to feel focused and intentional - because we believe in teaching real, intentional movement that is YOU centered.

We’re setting the stage for sessions that are tailored and specific - but open for exploration and growth. We have a focus on education, because flows are fun, but understanding the WHY and the HOW is crucial to your success.

Our sessions emphasize building strength and mobility that go with you - from your desk, to the streets for your run, up the stairs when the elevator is broken, and down ski hills, if that’s your type of thing.

Our sessions are rigorous - not rigid. We’re constantly leveling up, looking at better ways to leverage biomechanics and Classical Pilates to build stronger, more resilient bodies and how to present that for the unique, individual needs of our clients. No session will ever be the same, but we will demand your attention to detail - that’s where the magic happens! Pilates is something you do - not something that is done to you.

Perhaps you’ve noticed our equipment - Workhorses, built to last. That’s Classical Pilates for you, and that why we use it. There is science behind the tension of the springs, and then dimensions of the equipment. if you’re going to do Pilates, you need to be doing Pilates on equipment that was created for this sole purpose - teaching you how to connect to your body.

Teaching is an art form and a calling - not something that is learned in a weekend training course. All of our teachers come from highly reputable training programs, and are dedicated to you. This isn’t a side project, this is our profession.

And each teacher offers something different - this is vital, and like everything else we do, intentional!

We all live the Pilates method, but speak to different learning styles and preferences. We are adept at adaptation, and at helping adapt your practice to what you need, each time.

Classes are small - 3 people max, because we aren’t interested in the masses. This is intentional, because we want you to get stronger, feel more confident, and be comfortable because Pilates isn’t a performance - it’s just for you. You’ve got options here:

  • Tower for power and strength

  • Reformer for connection and precision

  • Wunda chair for fine-tuning and advancement

  • Barrels for space and mobility.

Our focus is on providing a well-rounded, systemic practice that challenges and progresses you - a practice that asks you to listen, and stay engaged.

And the older we get, the finer our tastes - we know that quality is better than quantity - and our intent is to provide you with the quality movement education you deserve.

Which is why our sessions are appointment-only, and booked for continuity. We operate under this philosophy because we’ve seen it work! Drop in classes are for convenience - not for changing your life for the better. A few reasons we love this way of operating:

  • Better planning - If it’s built in to your life, you’re more likely to benefit from a consistent practice

  • Your movement practice becomes fuller - with regularity, you get to see your progress in a way that emboldens you outside of the studio

  • You become more autonomous - you feel more confident in yourself the more you learn.

  • Your investment goes further - This is a practice that you can have at any age, and at any stage. We want you to have the best, from the start.

Our goal for you? To age like a fine wine, bold and full of life.

In short, we’ve created a space where we hope every client feels seen, valued, and empowered. With our thoughtful cuing and expertise, personalized attention, and love for the Pilates method, we will work to guide you to discover your strengths and fall in love with movement.

High-five friends, see you in the studio!

~ Allyn
